Solar Pumps for a Greener Tomorrow

Lanka Sunrays FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Find comprehensive answers regarding system sizing, well depth compatibility, bank agricultural financing, and routine maintenance.

1. General Solar Pumping & Daily Operation

Operation is 100% automated! As soon as the morning sun strikes the solar array (typically around 7:30 AM), our smart MPPT VFD controller detects sufficient DC voltage and automatically ramps up the pump motor. In the late afternoon, as sunlight wanes, it gently slows down and powers off. You do not need to wake up early to hand-crank or start an engine.

Yes. Our Tier-1 Monocrystalline solar panels are engineered with high low-light sensitivity, generating usable power from diffuse ultraviolet sunlight even during overcast or hazy weather. Water output is naturally lower during heavy monsoon rains, which is why standard farming practice pumps surplus water into overhead storage tanks during sunny periods.

Chemical batteries (lead-acid or lithium) degrade rapidly under tropical ambient temperatures (30°C–38°C) and cost several hundred thousand rupees to replace every 2 to 3 years. Lanka Sunrays uses your water tank as your "battery": you pump water into an elevated tank when the sun is free, and enjoy free gravity-fed water at night with zero battery replacement expenses!

2. Technical Compatibility & Well Depth

Yes! We specialize in multi-stage stainless steel submersible pumps designed specifically for deep tube-wells in Sri Lanka's dry zones (Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Hambantota, Mannar). Our borehole pumps can easily lift water from depths exceeding 150 meters (490+ feet) with high discharge rates.

Our submersible borehole pumps are designed to fit standard 4-inch, 5-inch, and 6-inch PVC or steel borehole casings. For open agrowells, rivers, or canals, our surface centrifugal or floating pumps can be used regardless of well diameter.

Every installation includes electronic dry-run water level sensors immersed in the well. If the groundwater level drops below the pump intake during extreme drought, the controller immediately stops the motor to prevent dry friction and impeller damage, restarting automatically once groundwater recharges.

3. Financing, Agri-Loans & Installments

Yes! Because Lanka Sunrays is an SLSEA-compliant renewable energy provider with certified engineering specs, our quotations are approved by major commercial and development banks (Bank of Ceylon, People's Bank, Commercial Bank, HNB, and Seylan Bank) for green agricultural loan schemes and concessionary credit lines.

For farmers currently spending LKR 45,000 to 90,000 per month on diesel fuel and engine maintenance, the entire capital investment of a Lanka Sunrays solar pumping system is typically recovered within 11 to 15 months. Every year after payback is pure free water profit!

4. Maintenance, Spare Parts & Warranties

We provide a 25-Year Linear Power Performance Warranty on Tier-1 Monocrystalline solar panels, a 2-Year Comprehensive Direct Replacement Warranty on the solar pump and MPPT inverter controller, and a 10-Year anti-corrosion structural warranty on hot-dip galvanized mounting structures.

Maintenance is near-zero! There are no oil changes, spark plugs, or belts. The only recommended task is washing dust off the solar panels every 2 to 3 weeks using a soft cloth or water spray to maximize optical sunlight capture.
